At Hospice Kingston, we recognize the stress and anxiety that many caregivers experience while caring for a family member or friend with a serious or life-limiting illness. Caregivers may experience a variety of emotions and their physical and emotional energy may become depleted by the demands of ongoing caregiving.
Caregiver support is available for family members caring for an individual with progressive life-limiting illness. Specially trained staff and volunteers facilitate caregiver support groups in a safe confidential environment. The groups provide an opportunity to share experiences, identify challenges, and learn to identify and mange stressors.
The Caregivers Support Group offers opportunities for caregivers to meet with other caregivers and share experiences; learn new coping skills in a friendly, supportive and non-judgmental environment; share knowledge and information about community resources; learn about helpful tools and caring for someone at end-of-life; take a break from the daily caregiving routine to connect with people who share a similar experience. Hospice Kingston runs a monthly Zoom meeting and a private Facebook group for caregivers.
