Grief and Bereavement Facilitator

Grief and bereavement facilitators offer confidential one-on-one support to clients and families in their hours of need. They also facilitate bereavement support group sessions twice a year.

You must complete an orientation and screening process, including CPIC screening, a 30-hour volunteer palliative care training course and specific training in grief and bereavement.

Supportive Care Team Member – Community

Our community supportive care team volunteers provide emotional and social support to our clients and respite support for their families. They spend time with our clients so that their family members can enjoy a break and may also help with transportation and shopping.

To qualify, you must complete an orientation and screening process, including CPIC screeining, and a 30-hour volunteer palliative care training course.

Volunteer Drivers

In general, volunteer drivers take clients to the client day program each week. They may also be asked to provide transportation to medical and other appointments or for other personal errands.

To be a volunteer driver, you must have a valid driver’s license and two million dollars’ worth of liability insurance. You also must own a registered and well-maintained vehicle and have a record of responsible and safe driving.

You must complete an orientation and screening process, including CPIC screening and participate in training for the proper and safe transfer of clients into your car.

Gardening Volunteer (April to October)

Our gardening volunteers are responsible for maintaining the gardens around The Walk at City Park. Tasks will include weeding, watering and planting, as well as removal of debris.

You must complete an orientation and screening process, including CPIC screening.

Special Events Coordinator

Our special events coordinators are in charge of organizing Hospice Kingston fundraising events. They are responsible for all aspects of the event from planning and media engagement to site set up and take down, as well as volunteer management and procurement of some sponsors, participants and prizes.

Special Events Volunteer

Our special event volunteers assist the event coordinator and perform general duties during our community fundraising events, including writing letters, placing telephone calls, site set up and take down.

Office Volunteer

Our office volunteers work with our staff to perform general office duties and organize special events.

You must complete an orientation and screening process, including CPIC screening.
